Contact Improvisation Workshop with Hamzah

An introduction to the art of Contact Improvisation, a dance form that involves freeform movement between one or more fellow dancers. We will firstly dive into understanding space, boundaries and our movement potential followed by exploring the basic principles of contact improvisation such as sharing weight, the rolling point of contact as well as basing and flight. This 2 hour workshop will be followed by an hour of a Contact Improvisation jam session to apply fresh concepts as well as to enjoy the feeling of embodied movement as contact dancers!  Bio: Hamzah Mas is a Movement Coach and Yoga Teacher known for his joyful nature and uplifting energy. Hamzah began his journey as a Yoga Teacher in 2017 and soon after deepened his pursuit of freeform movement and embodied expression through his encounters with ecstatic dance, Contact Improvisation, and “movement culture” inspired by the Ido Portal method. He now blends his love of functional movement and improvisation, seeking to inspire others to find the medicine within themselves through facilitating engaging and thoughtful classes, leaving you feeling empowered and mindful within. Outside of his passion for teaching movement, Hamzah is an Avid Rock climber, Music Producer and Doctor with a love of integrating his passions into his daily life drawn from his inspiration of the human experience.
